Lund's City Hall celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018 and after a strong effort, it is well deserved to treat the City Hall and the people of Lund to a much needed renewal of one of the city's most important places. The population has roughly doubled since the City Hall was built in 1968, and the city's need for the City Hall has changed as a result. At the heart of the city lies this enormous potential, which has been given a framework by the architect Klas Anshelm. The beauty of a living city and a living city centre is that it is the people and the life between the houses that create the cityscape. Lund has the advantage of its scale to encourage pedestrians and cyclists which Lund has been good at exploiting. However, with the Scandinavian climate, it is necessary to create a good framework for urban life all year round. The new Stadshallen will be Lund's indoor square and new urban space - the city's living room.
